Jake had his vet appointment yesterday. His congestion is ALL GONE! He is doing just great and isn't taking any antibiotics any longer. Jake is ready to go out and meet the world. He did just that Monday evening when he went to his first day of Kindergarten. Jake had a great time. He greated each dog who arrived and their owners and thought he was king of the world! He started out in the "small/timid dog" playgroup but that lasted about 5 minutes when he was removed and put in the "big dog" group! He was the smallest dog there but only in physical size...certainly not in spirit! This may be his only chance to actually play with a bull mastiff!! LOL Jake did his lessons well and caught on to things quickly. There doesn't seem to be a shy bone in his body. He was totally excited and happy to be there.

TOY STORM!!! Everywhere Jake goes, along go each and every toy he "owns"! It is like living in the middle of a toy storm! I read an ad for a book that teaches you how to teach them to put their toys away....we may just have to get it!LOL.

Jake went outside through the doggie door (with a little help) when the other kids did this morning. He saw Molly doing her business and he stopped and did his! When we came in I weighed him and he is now 8.5# at 20 weeks. This is just slightly behind Molly who was 8.5# at 19 weeks. Jake is almost caught up! Maybe he will be normal sized after all!

Jake spent a lot of time outdoors in the backyard running around and playing today. He hasn't before this because we are still winter coat cold out. But he is now getting good sized and has a pretty good coat too. And we know his congestion is gone so I felt comfortable letting him run around out there in the afternoon sun. I got out to do some gardening today and since he still has that puppy apron string syndrom, he was out when I was. In fact all three were outside. Jake and Glennie did a lot of chasing and playing. Jake discovered the earthdog tunnels and went through them many times. He had a really good time and has just been bouncing around all afternoon! He also learned the doggie door. I decided it was time for him to learn it because it is time to take his housebreaking outside, at least during the day. He figured it out very quickly once he realized that it was the only way to get to where I was.

I made hats for them to wear in the parade at our show at the end of the month. I don't think any of them were too thrilled but they all wore them for me.

Wow..Jake has been a very busy little boy since I last posted. We have finally had some real nice weather and we have been outside a lot. Glennie and Jake are becoming very good friends and Jake and Molly are too in a different way.

Jake has ears!! His ears have been up most of the time for three days now! I think he is about done with teething so I'm hoping this is it for the ears.

Jake is 5 months old today and weighs about 9 pounds. Today he had his first experience at earthdog practice. He goes through the tunnels nicely but he doesn't quite know what to make of the rat. He has never seen a critter, not even a squirrel. I think he will soon figure out what Terriers think of critters, though and will be a good earthdogger.

Jake has some new accomplishments and new drama in his life! While weeding I heard a dog on the teeter and turned to see Jake had gone up it, tipped it and was coming down!! No fear!! He also has learned to get on the bed in the doggie room and from there he can now join the others on the table that sits in front of the window. This is a first. He can't yet get on most of the furniture without help. He is now 8.8# officially and 8.5 inches tall still. Now that it is nice out, we are using the yard and he loves to run and play in it. Yesterday, though, while I was cleaning the yard, he decided to help and ate a chestnut. He began to vomit last night and when it continued into the morning, we were off to the vet. Eventually he brought up chestnut pieces so we knew what it was. He seems to be over it now but he sure gave me a scare. That was how it started when he ended up in the hospital! Here are photos with him and his brother in the yard. (Molly decided to stay on the deck. We had been for a walk and I think she was warm. It is harder on her right now because she keeps managing to sneak some of his food and it has caused her to gain some weight!!!)

Jake is always bothering his brother....but Glennie gives a smile to let us know he is okay with it!

Too funny to miss! I bought this ball/tug toy at Target today. I knew Glennie would love it. We played in the yard for a bit then I went to do some weeding. I looked up and found this! Guess Jake is a bit too little to play with this one! (It is soft and flexible so easily removed.)
