JAKE'S 2ND BIRTHDAY

Jake starts his 2nd year today. He is a "big" boy now rounding out between 16 and 17 pounds. He is around 12 inches tall. Jake is loved by his sister and brother and keeps us all entertained and, like all good baby brothers, a little frustrated at times too! Maybe this year he will grow into those ears!

JAKE'S RALLY CAREER

JOHN JACOB, JUMPIN 4 JOY CGC, RN, RL1 (1/2 JE AND 2/3 RA)

Jake went to double trials (Oakland County KC) January 19 and 20. He came away with his 2nd and 3rd Rally Novice legs for his first official AKC Title (RN) along with 2 Advanced Rally legs including 2nd place finishes! He has matured a lot in the last couple of months and was able to stay with me even off lead. He is distracted compared to practice but, hopefully, this will improve as we continue to work and he matures further.

JAKE EARNS HIS RALLY ADVANCED TITLE

JOHN JACOB, JUMPIN 4 JOY CGC, RA, RL1 (1/2 JE)

Jake earned his Rally advanced title at the Sportsmen's trial on February 22. He earned a score of 96 and 2nd place. I was happy with the ribbon and title and he was happy with the purple teddybear that he won! Now we are on to try for the Excellent title.

JAKE LURE RACES AT COBO HALL
March 1 &2, 2008

Jake went to Cobo to lure race with the Fox Terrier Club and the Westie Club. He had a great time and loved every minute of it. He always finished the race and I only noticed one time that he didn't win. He is SO fast. When they weren't racing, they were cheerleaders!

We also went to see a heart specialist this week. Jake has developed a heart murmur which we wanted to check out. The diagnosis is that he has a birth defect which left a small opening between the chambers of his heart; however there is no need for medication and he has no restrictions. It is just one of those things and should not have any real impact on him.

JAKE EARNS HIS FIRST RE LEG
March 21, 2008

Jake went to Companion Dog Training Club in Flint MI today and earned his first Rally Excellent leg. It was a tough course and a tough judge. Jake got 2nd place with an 82. It isn't a high score but no one was scoring high today. It was fair since everyone was scored alike. Jake wasn't paying as much attention as I would like. He knows the exercises though so he didn't miss any of them. His lost points were due to his forging and not paying attention. He was having a good time! The photo below was too funny not to post. He is posing with his ribbons and the toy that he won. I'm beginning to trust that he won't leave the ring without me so that's progress. I figure we have at least 21 more times in the ring before he gets his RAE title and I hope by the end of that we are getting good attention.

FAMILY PHOTO

I've developed a habit of doing a photo when they get groomed because that is the one day they look so good! This is Glennie, Molly, Jake in that order. Glennie is 7, Molly is 10 and Jake is 2 years, 4 months.
