Kim J. Teal
Kim J. Teal has been solo piccoloist and assistant principal/3rd flutist with the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra since 1975 and was formerly principal flutist and soloist with the Delta Festival Orchestra and Saginaw Eddy Concert Band. She performs with the Belle Valley Community Band, is a substitute flutist with the Midland and Flint Symphonies, has performed with the Ann Arbor Chamber Orchestra and the Greater Lansing Symphony Orchestra, and free-lances throughout Michigan. Kim is a founding member, business manager, and a music arranger/composer for Flûtée, a professional flute quartet. She has performed at National Flute Association conventions with Flûtée in 1994 (Kansas City), 1997 (Chicago), and 2000 (Columbus). She owns and operates the Teal Flute Studio, teaching private flute and piccolo lessons, flute ensemble classes, fife and penny whistle lessons. She is also the founder and artistic director of Birds of a Feather Flute Ensemble and is flutist and composer/arranger for Toot -n-Tell, a duo promoting music and literature for children. She holds a Bachelor of Music (Performance) degree from Central Michigan University, a Master of Music (Performance) degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and has done graduate study at Indiana University in musicology. Her teachers include John Wheeler, Paula Robison (master class), James Pellerite (seminar), Harry Houdeshel, and Keith Bryan.
